Mujeres Que Escriben Present: Día de Los Muertos

Raices Taller 222 Art Gallery and Workshop annually dedicates several weeks to celebrate Día De Los Muertos, a beautiful and sincere event keeping alive the old Aztec tradition of honoring our ancestors. With a unique Hispanic Southwest flavor, the Día De Los Muertos exhibit takes place during the month of November. The gallery opens Fridays and Saturdays from 1-5.

The Día De Los Muertos exhibit includes altars and ofrendas by individuals, families and community groups featuring painting, sculpture, photography and mixed media work by local and regional artists. It also features a community potluck, refreshments, music, and a Día De Los Muertos activity table for children on the closing date. Although donations are appreciated, it is a free event open to everyone.

Traditionally, members of Mujeres Que Escriben, a Southwest women writers’ group, read poetry, fiction and creative non-fiction at the Día De Los Muertos Closing Ceremony

Raices Taller 222 Art Gallery and Workshop is Tucson’s only Latino-based nonprofit cooperative contemporary art gallery located in the Downtown Historic Warehouse District at 218 E. 6th Street, Tucson, Arizona.
